Capt Metcalfe, Master Mariner, established this firm of Surveyors & Loss Assessors in September 1885 at Bombay on inducement and for the convenience of British Mercantile and Insurance Interests. A few years later as the business grew, Capt Hodgkinson, Master Mariner ,joined the firm as a junior partner and the firm eventually acquired the name “Metcalfe & Hodgkinson “ as a registered partnership firm.
On 27th September 1948 the partnership was incorporated in the state of Maharashtra, India as a Private Limited company and formally acquired the name Metcalfe & Hodgkinson Pvt. Ltd.
